When expanding the irrigation system, users can add station modules without the need to remove or power down the controller, providing a seamless and convenient upgrade process. The ESP-ME3 can be upgraded to a SMART controller by adding the optional LNK WiFi module and a WR2 rain sensor, earning it the EPA WaterSense certification. The LNK module allows for easy programming and monitoring through the enhanced Rain Bird app, making it accessible from anywhere.

For enhanced water monitoring and protection against a broken irrigation system, an optional flow sensor can be installed. The controller comes with a power cord for quick plug-in indoor or outdoor installations, and the cord can be removed to hardwire the internal transformer to a junction box.

The ESP-ME3 offers 4 zones that can be expanded to 22 zones with optional modules, providing flexibility to accommodate various irrigation needs. The controller's non-volatile memory ensures that the settings are saved indefinitely, even during extended power outages.

The optional Rain Bird LNK WiFi Module (sold separately) enables WiFi connectivity, allowing users to access, operate, and monitor their irrigation system remotely. The internet-based weather information is utilized to make daily adjustments to the irrigation schedule, potentially saving up to 30% in water consumption.

The controller is compatible with multiple sizes and makes of optional wired flow sensors (sold separately) for flow monitoring and notifications, helping to save water and protect against property damage.
